| Daytrips
to the outer islands of Phuket
Every day,
we visit the outer islands and dive sites of Phuket by boat in a one day diving tour.
While relaxing on our professional and safe diving boats, you will be able to admire the
exotic islands of the Andaman Sea during a comfortable ride that lasts between 90 minutes
and a maximum of 2,5 hours. All daytrips include hotel transfers, guidance of an
experienced Divemaster, lunch and refreshments (excl. alcoholic
beverages). Snorkellers
are of course welcome to join in!
Racha Yai
Racha Yai is a day trip dive destination loved by divers of all certification
levels alike. The tropical island features atmospheric lagoons and beaches and is located
90 minutes south of Phuket. This dive site can be visited all year
round, as it offers
excellent diving even during the monsoon season between May and
October. The reefs consist
mainly of hard corals and accommodates an abundance of colorful marine life. Big
groupers, snapper, tuna and octopus are common dive buddies here.
Racha Noi
Racha Noi is to be found 30 minutes further down south of Racha Yai and has a
prolonged shape, pointing in southern direction. The dive sites here are quite demanding
and may appeal more to the experienced diver. Big pelagics such as
sailfish, tuna and
barracuda are common residents and make the efforts of dealing with changing currents
worthwile. Manta rays, stingrays, reef- and leopard sharks are often seen
here, especially
when strong currents supply nutrient-rich water.
Sharkpoint
These marine sanctuary is located only 90 minutes southeast of Phuket. The
surface reveals nothing of it's deeper beauty, as a plain rock is all that breaks the
surface. Below the waterline, the diver will find a magnificent dive
site. Colorful soft
coral and sponge patterns cover the 3 submerged rock formations. Bottom-dwelling Leopard
sharks are the main attractions here. White-eyed moray eels, blue-spotted stingrays and
cuttlefish are usually seen as well.
Anemone
Reef
Only 300 meters away from Shark Point, this submerged pinnacle impresses with
a carpet-like cover of colorful soft corals and sea anemones plus an abundance of
beautiful reef fish. Divers that are too curious about the nicely coloured anemone
residents will get the opportunity of seeing clown fish in action - trying to drive off
the diver in a heroic effort, swimming left-right combinations in front of the diver's
mask. Frightened away by the clownfish's massive size (4 inches), the diver will realize
that also the Anemone Reef is home to plenty of leopard sharks. This reef caused a ferry
boat to sink in 1997. Luckily the damage to the reef itself was
minor.
Koh Doc Mai
Translated, Koh Doc Mai means flower island. Steep walls are the main feature
of this impressive lime stone island. The island invites to thrilling deep- wall- and
drift dives and is usually visited on the way back from, or to Shark Point. The steep
walls are covered with soft and hard corals, tube worms, sea fans and
sponges. Two small
caves invite the experienced and certified cave diver. Black and white-banded sea snakes
and blue spottet stingrays are also coomonly seen here.
The
King Cruiser Wreck
This 85 meter passenger ferry sank on the 4th of May 1997 after managing to
hit the only navigational hazard within hundreds of sea miles: The Anemone
Reef. Fortunately, all passengers survived and were saved by nearby fishing and diving
boats.
The King Cruiser make an ideal wreck dive, as the top deck of the boat is at 12 meters
with the maximum depth not exceeding 30 meters. Plenty of marine life, such as big schools
of batfish, lionfish and more have chosen the King Cruiser as their residential suite.
Despite wide open passage ways and open passenger decks, which provide a very safe wreck
diving environment, careful movement and preparation is of the essence when diving
here.
You will be able to learn more about wreck diving by joining our PADI
Wreck Diving Specialty Course!
Phi Phi
Islands
These amazing group of islands is the daytrip destination with the longest
distance from Phuket. We strongly recommend speedboat excursions to visit this particular
dive site. Phi phi islands consist of limestone cliffs above the water and colourful walls
of soft corals below the waterline. Snapper, baracuda, tuna and batfish are found in
abundance around this underwater kingdom, which became world-famous after the screening of
Hollywoods latest boxoffice hit "The Beach". Leopard sharks and other pelagics
are also commonly seen. Sightings of whale shark and manta rays are possible between
December and May.
We also offer Speedboat excursions to all daytrip destinations plus special trips to the outstanding dive sites Hin Daeng and Hin Muang (more info about these divesites are to be found on our
